Through Christ...
Under the direction, leadership and ministry of Christ’s Church, Mandarin Christian School opened in 1995 with Kindergarten through fifth grades. We now enroll nearly 650 students in grades K-12, and will graduate our first senior class this school year.
Our school facility includes 35 regular classrooms, two music rooms, a band room, a computer lab, an art room, a media center, administrative offices, extended care area and a cafeteria dining area. MCS also has an expansive auditorium, gymnasium, playground area, a fenced recreation area and a 10-acre athletic complex that includes baseball, softball and soccer fields.
MCS offers a Christ-centered, fully-accredited educational program that has been recognized for our high academic standards, dedicated staff and biblical perspective. Our educational program includes Honors and AP courses, fine arts, sports and community service/missions opportunities. Without a doubt, the Lord has blessed our school, as evidenced by our continued growth and expansion over the last few years.
…Who Gives Me Strength
Our growing enrollment and expanding programs are presenting some wonderful challenges and immediate concerns. We have outgrown our current space and continue to grow in both the elementary and upper school levels. We believe in providing the best education and facilities possible for our current students and families.
In our current state of expansion, it is time to move forward with the added classroom space and programs that will meet the growing needs of those students as well as keep pace with projected growth.
Our strong numbers in elementary and middle school will carry upward into the high school grades. Meeting the needs of the projected growth and development of our new high school program will be particularly challenging in upcoming years.
Looking forward, we understand that we are facing both a tremendous opportunity and an unprecedented challenge. MCS Leadership believes that, similar to those who have gone before us, we must act boldly and trust that Christ will give us the strength we need in order to meet these challenges.
…I Can Do All Things
Over the course of the past one and a half years, MCS Leadership has completed a comprehensive Strategic Plan to identify solutions for facility needs at our school. After an exhaustive study, the Board and Administration is proposing a major building program on our current property. Once complete, this plan will include a brand new 60,000 square foot, three-story building as well as significant renovations to areas of our existing structure. The new plan includes space for the projected growth in all grade levels as well as an expanded technology, science, and fine arts programs.
Pursuing Our Vision...
The total cost to achieve this vision is projected to be approximately $15,000,000. The numbers represent the construction of steel and masonry structure, yet it is the life-changing activities taking place within the walls that will have the greatest impact. We are investing in society’s greatest asset—-the next generation! We believe this is an investment that will pay dividends for eternity.
To make this vision a reality, MCS is proposing a multi-year capital campaign that will require the support of many, including friends, families, churches, and businesses. This case statement was prepared to inform and educate our community and families about this plan. With the help of The Timothy Group of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a Pre-Campaign Study is being conducted to help identify volunteers and donors who will assist us in this major fund-raising effort.
