Fine Arts
The fine arts program gives students the opportunity to build skills in music and drama. Music class, utilizing instruction through the Orff approach, involves singing, movement, instrument playing, and drama. Drama/theatre arts is a regular part of the music programs for students in kindergarten–fifth grade. Students enjoy experiences in pantomime, creative drama, stories, and plays.
Sixth through eighth grade students may choose from Orff/percussion ensemble, vocal ensemble, band, or drama as performing arts electives. Students use their skills to work on drama and/or musical productions including outreach performances and concerts.
Ninth through twelfth grade students are required to have one credit of fine arts for graduation.
Visual Arts
The visual arts program provides students many opportunities to express themselves creatively through a wide variety of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpting. The curriculum explores the elements of line, color, shape, texture, and form. Visual Arts help develop an understanding of the principles of design and encourages an appreciation for the arts as a reflection of God’s glory.
First through fifth grade students attend art class every week. Sixth through eighth grade students may choose art as a year-long elective. Classes for ninth through twelfth grade students are offered each semester as electives and are for fulfillment of the required fine arts credit.
